Gold JIB Card - Gas Service Engineer

What is a Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB Card?

The Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB card is intended for fully qualified operatives who with advanced gas fitting skills, and certifies that they have had the extensive technical and health and safety training necessary to work without supervision.

What qualifications will I need?

To gain a Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB Card certification, you’ll need to have achieved a Level 3 NVQ or SVQ of a gas-related type, or a similar City and Guilds certificate.

Accepted qualifications include (but are not limited to):

  • Gas Services Installation & Maintenance (6006)

  • Domestic Natural Gas Installation & Maintenance (ACS) (6012)

  • Gas Emergency Service Operations (ACS) (6012)

  • Gas Installation and Maintenance (6013)

  • Gas Service Installation & Maintenance (6016)

  • Domestic Natural Gas Maintenance (6034)

  • Final Certificate in Gas Fitting

  • Gas Equip. Fault Diagnosis & Rectification (598-2)

  • Level 3 Cert. for Service Engineers (GAS) (662-2)

  • City & Guilds Final Cert in Gas Fitting

  • City & Guilds Licentiateship in Gas Services

  • City and Guilds 6014 Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation

PLEASE NOTE: SOME CITY & GUILDS CERTIFICATES MAY NOT BE ACCEPTABLE.

This card does not prove competence in gas work or Gas Safe Registration.

All engineers must also be GAS Safe certified, and provide their individual license number (7 digits) before they may apply for their Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB card.

How long is the certification valid?

The Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB Card is valid for five years and can be renewed.

What is the next step?

Those engineers who wish to move on from their Gold (Gas Service Engineer) JIB card may want to seek wither their Gold (Supervisor) or Black (Manager) JIB cards.
