IOSH Managing Safely

What is the course?

It is a 3-4 day course, designed for managers and supervisors to increase awareness and competency of workplace health and safety issues and legislation.

Delegates can expect detailed overviews of the current legal framework and how it relates to the health and safety sector. Also technical and real world scenarios are used in case studies to improve awareness of managing safety in a series of different industries.

Course content

The course covers many areas of managing health and safety and is module based. The modules include:

  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Understanding responsibilities
  • Understanding hazards
  • Incident investigation
  • Auditing risks and review
  • Measuring performance
  • Protecting the environment

How is the course taught and assessed?

This course is a practical programme with risk assessments, case studies and at the end a 25 question multiple format assessment paper.

What qualification will I receive?

Successful delegates will be awarded the IOSH Managing Safely certificate

What can I do next?

Many delegates progress to the NEBOSH qualifications such as a National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Entry Requirements

The course is recommended to managers and supervisors in any environment where health and safety risks exist.

A working knowledge of English is required.
