This course, SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher Course is held over a 2-day timescale, and is directed to presenting a current awareness of the regulatory and legal changes that influence the daily controlling of construction sites. The course permits management personnel to construct safe working conditions for all employees.
The SMSTS Refresher Course is taught in such a way so to involve classroom interactions, debate and discussions, including case study analysis of group and individual presentations. An ongoing assessment ensues throughout the entire course, terminating with a multiple choice exam at the end of the 2-day refresher period.
Applicants are welcomed from the construction industry, from management professionals requiring to update their comprehension of construction site legislation and health and safety regulations.
Successful completion of the SMSTS Refresher Course will result in the award of CITB Safety Plus certification
There is a requirement for a good comprehension of both written and spoken English. Candidates for the SMSTS Refresher Course must finalise the course before their current SMSTS certificate expires (within a five-year period), otherwise the full course will need to be retaken. The SMSTS certificate must be renewed every 5 years to be valid.
After successfully completing the SMSTS Refresher Course, students may wish to obtain the Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme(SEATS) or the NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
