What is the course?

The three day SITS (Basic) course is intended for new entrants and operatives, as well as managers and supervisors who will be responsible for scaffolding inspection.

Course content

  • Understanding the applicable regulations and codes
  • Scaffolding equipment, components and terminology
  • Recommended techniques for all scaffolding types
  • Practical scaffolding inspection
  • Reporting issues

How is the course taught and assessed?

The SITS (Basic) course includes both in-class learning, computer simulations and team-based practical learning over three days.

Your practical skills and test grades will both contribute to your overall evaluation.

What qualification will I receive?

Those students who successfully complete this course will earn their CISRS Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (Basic) certificate.

What can I do next?

After qualifying for your SITS (Basic) certificate, you can go on to earn your SITS (advanced) certificate.

You can also apply for a CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspector Card if you have taken the course within the last 5 years.

Entry requirements

In order to take this class, you must have either passed your CITB HS&E test no more than two years ago, or hold at least one of these certifications:

  • CCNSG Passport to Safety
  • NEBOSH certificate (within the last 2 years)
  • Offshore Survival certificate
  • FAS Safe Pass
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (within the last 2 years)

You must also understand both written and spoken English to take this class.
