Site Visitor JIB Card

What is a Yellow (Site Visitor) JIB Card?

The Yellow (Site Visitor) JIB card was developed to allow those individuals with no specific plumbing, gas or pipe fitting or related skills or functions to access construction and work sites from time to time.

Please note that this is not considered a full JIB health and safety certification, and managers or supervisors will still have a heightened duty to ensure the health and safety of site visitors who bear a Yellow JIB Card.

What qualifications will I need?

As Site Visitors have no working duties on site, the only qualification needed to hold a Yellow (Site Visitor) card is that you must have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test for Operatives and provide confirmation of their occupation from their employer.

How long is the certification valid?

The Yellow (Site Visitor) JIB card is valid for five years, and cannot be renewed.

After the card expires, anyone wishing to keep site access must reapply for a new card, and demonstrate recent HS&E certification as well.

What is the next step?

Typically, Site visitors do not seek further JIB certification, unless their career path changes to make their presence on the worksite more common, or more involved. If so, the card should be determined by the nature of their new role.
