The CPCS A61 course has been designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and expertise to fully comprehend and understand the responsibility of the Appointed Person. It is suitable for supervisors and managers with responsibility for lifting operations and is taught over the course of five days (including CPCS Technical Tests).
The CPCS A61 Appointed Person course is taught through a mixture of practical exercises and classroom based discussions and lessons. An assessment concludes the five-day course with both theory and practical elements.
Applicants should be supervisors and managers who are responsible for planning and executing lifting operations.
Successful applicants will receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card on completion of the course. For those individuals who already hold the CPCS Code A40 Slinger/Signaller certification, they will also receive the CPCS Code A62 Crane Supervisor qualification.
This course is open to applicants who have experience of cranes and meet the requirements outlined in British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes. Within the two years immediately prior to the course you must have passed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test for managers and professional persons. All applicants must have a good grasp of both written and spoken English.
Upon completion of the course applicants may want to get the Level 5 Appointed Persons NVQ/SVQ and after that a Blue Competent Operator Card.
